Compress a PDF for email
Email attachment limits are unforgiving: Gmail allows 25 MB in total, Outlook and many work servers less, and a file even slightly over bounces back unsent. This page opens our Compress PDF tool with a 10 MB target ready - safely under every common limit and quick to open on a phone. Type any smaller target if your mail server is stricter; the tool keeps the clearest version that fits and reports the final size before you attach it.
How to do it
- Add your PDF file.
- Confirm or change the target (10 MB is set and suits most email).
- Click Compress PDF, download, and attach the smaller file.
Common questions
What is the Gmail attachment limit?
25 MB in total across attachments. A PDF compressed to 10 MB or less sends comfortably alongside other files.
Why did my emailed PDF bounce?
Either the total size passed the limit, or the receiving server has a smaller cap. Compressing to 5 MB or less clears almost every server.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Compression happens on your device - only the finished file travels with your email.
