Redact a PDF - hidden text truly removed
Covering text with a black rectangle is not real redaction if the text is still hiding underneath. This tool does it properly: pages where you draw boxes are rebuilt as pictures with the black boxes burned in, so the hidden names, numbers or details are genuinely removed from the file. Pages you do not touch keep their original text. Redaction cannot be undone in the downloaded file, so keep your original safe.
How to do it
- Add your PDF and go to the page to redact.
- Drag on the page to draw black boxes over private content.
- Click Redact PDF and download the safe copy.
Common questions
Is the hidden text really gone?
Yes. Boxed pages are rebuilt as images, so there is no text layer left under the black boxes on those pages.
Why is text on redacted pages no longer selectable?
That is the cost of true removal - the whole page becomes a picture. Untouched pages keep selectable text.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Redaction happens on your device, which is how private documents should be handled.
