Repair a damaged PDF - best-effort rescue
A PDF that will not open is not always lost. This repair tool first rebuilds the file into a fresh, clean document, which fixes many structural errors. If the file is too damaged for that, it falls back to rebuilding each page as a clear picture at about 150 DPI. That fallback saves the content, but text on rebuilt pages becomes part of the picture and is no longer selectable - the tool tells you which route was used.
How to do it
- Add the damaged PDF file.
- Click Repair PDF.
- Download the rescued file and check it opens.
Common questions
Can every damaged PDF be repaired?
No tool can promise that. If both rescue routes fail, the tool says so honestly instead of giving you a broken download.
Will my text stay selectable?
Yes if the clean rebuild works. The picture fallback preserves how pages look, not selectable text.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Repair runs fully in your browser.
