Extract text from a PDF into a plain text file
Copying text out of a long PDF by hand is slow. This extractor pulls all the readable text out of your document, page by page, into a clean plain text file you can search, edit or paste anywhere. If a page is a scanned picture with no text layer, the tool says so honestly instead of inventing text.
How to do it
- Add your PDF file.
- Click Extract Text.
- Download the plain text file.
Common questions
Why did one page come out empty?
That page is most likely a scanned image without a text layer. Reading it would need OCR, which this tool does not do.
Is the layout kept?
Text is extracted in reading order, page by page, as plain text without columns or styling.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Extraction runs on your device.
