Compress documents for IRCC upload, one exact target at a time
IRCC application portals show a maximum file size for documents as you upload them, and the limit can differ by document and program - so there is no single magic number to aim at. The reliable method is to read the cap shown for the document you are uploading, then compress that file to exactly that target.
That is how our Compress PDF tool works: you type the target the portal shows you, it tries a lossless save first and then steps down gently, and reports the final size so you can confirm it is under the cap before you go back to the portal. Prepare every document this way, one at a time, before your submission session.
How to do it
- In your IRCC application, note the size limit shown for the document.
- Open Compress PDF, type that exact target, and compress the file.
- Check the reported final size is under the cap.
- Repeat per document, then upload the prepared set.
Common questions
What is the IRCC upload size limit?
It varies by program and document type, and the portal shows the limit where you upload. Always work to the number shown for your document rather than a figure from a forum or video.
My document is a photo, not a PDF. What then?
Use Compress Picture to set the exact pixels and maximum file size your document instructions list.
Are my documents uploaded to this site?
No. Compression runs in your browser; your files never leave your device.
